Obituary - Andrew A. Kenny

July 26, 1953 - June 13, 2017

Andrew A. Kenny, Jr., at the age of 63, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Mr. Kenny was born in Providence, RI to the late Helen M. (Hutchinson) and Andrew A. Kenny, Sr.

Andy received his bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island and there was no question that this was his calling. He had been employed with Roger Williams Hospital, Miriam Hospital and South County Hospital and up until his death was a hospice nurse at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence, RI. He was on the board of the Rhode Island Chaplaincy Center and treasurer of The Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island

Aside from his professional career and affiliations, he was all about his family. Not ever been married nor having children, he was at the epicenter of his siblings and their children and was considered the patriarch of the family. He was adored by his nieces and nephews and considered them as his own children.

He was the companion of 26 years to David Cranmer of North Kingstown; brother of: John F. Kenny of Exeter, RI, Joyce Jackson of Holliston, MA, Susan Miner of Fitchburg, MA and Mary Ann Williamson of North Kingstown, RI; uncle of: James Tweedie of Wells, ME, Michael Tweedie of Nashville, TN, Carolyn Rafferty of Holliston, MA, Wendy Carter of Framingham, MA, Christopher Williamson of East Providence, RI, James Williamson of Cranston, RI, Katie Williamson Smith of Warwick, RI, Jennifer Miner of Fitchburg, MA, Beatrice Palmer of Fitchburg, MA, Andrew Miner of Fitchburg, MA, Brian Kenny of Exeter, RI and Shelby Kenny of Exeter, RI; eighteen grand nieces and nephews; his close cousin Denise Robinson of Attleboro, MA and several loving extended family and friends. Andy is predeceased by his siblings Linda Kenny and Patrick Kenny.

Calling hours will be Monday, June 19 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI immediately followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.
